Current Exhibition

In the archives at the Art Gallery of Ontario, kept in dark places to prevent their deterioration are early gouache paintings by Tom Thompson. I also paint in gouache and was wondering:  how does one celebrate the one hundreth anniversary of his passing?

In my own gouache paintings of the land sometimes a small section of a painting will catch my attention and I will explore that composition of shape, colour and brush strokes on a much larger scale. These become paintings on their own, abstracts which relate in texture and colour to the original subject.

In my celebration to Tom Thompson, I have selected three of his plein air oil paintings to express.
